Enjoyed our visit here. Nice selection of baskets for purchasing. We were able to walk our dogs as we explored the small site. Definitely make an effort to visit Poverty Point. Another terrific Mound site that was named a World Heritage Site in 2014. Historically on par with Chaco Canyon in New Mexico, also a WH site along with Yellowstone and Glacial National Parks.
If you actually want to walk around all of the mounds, a little warning: you'd be doing a lot of walking. I didn't do that. I just stayed behind near the tent. It was really breezy, and kinda nice.
Enjoyed the experience. Ms. AVIS was awesome. She knows everything it seemed like and she loves what she does. Everyone should come visit Ms Avis.
This is a great place to bring families. The museum is small but informative and had a couple hands on displays, a gift shop, and restrooms. The grounds are well kept with signs explaining the history of the area and the mounds. There is a warning sign about venomous snakes. Very peaceful here.
Small museum with borderline professional 8 minute interesting video regarding background of now extinct local tribe. Exhibition has many artifacts for the interested. Good for children.
